Introducing “The Hotspot” blog

Care team huddle

By Felicia Santiago

We are excited to announce some important changes to our blog and its new name: “The Hotspot.” Our staff writer, Amy Yuen, came up with the name during a brainstorming session, and we all agreed on it immediately. Hotspotting is a term borrowed from law enforcement by our founder Dr. Jeffrey Brenner to describe the innovative use of data to identify high-need, high-cost patients in a fragmented system and improve their care. The Camden Coalition’s early days were profiled in the 2011 New Yorker article “The Hot Spotters,” and our identity has been closely linked to the hotspotting model ever since.

Along with the blog’s new name and look, we added new features. Bylines now show who wrote each post. “The Hotspot”, updated regularly by our staff writers Amy Yuen and Hannah Mogul-Adlin, will also periodically feature pieces by guest contributors from both inside and outside the Coalition. We encourage readers to share our blog on social media, and now we’ve made it easier. Look for the Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn icons located at the bottom of each post to quickly share the posts with your friends and followers.

If you like “The Hotspot”, subscribe to our monthly newsletter so you’ll never miss a post. Our Camden Coalition newsletter also includes new research, events, and learning opportunities to further our goal of connecting the complex care community.
