New Jersey Medication Access Partnership (NJMAP)
Connecting eligible patients to free or low-cost medication
For qualified patients who cannot afford their prescribed medications, the New Jersey Medication Access Partnership (NJMAP) helps connect them to programs run by various pharmaceutical companies to obtain the medications they need at low cost or no cost. Each pharmaceutical company that sponsors free prescription assistance programs for patients has unique eligibility requirements and application forms. For patients who are on several medications, this would call for multiple applications and ensuring that multiple sets of requirements are fulfilled. Our Program Coordinator works individually with patients to determine eligibility, gather all necessary documentation, and helps streamline the process into a single application process. She also helps provide critical prescription and health education.
Supported by a grant from the Institute of Medication Access and Compliance, NJMAP ensures that patients with limited income have access to the prescription medications and education they need to control their chronic conditions. Currently, the program operates out of two primary care sites in Camden and since launched in April 2010, has helped over 175 patients.
