Organization
The Camden Coalition of Healthcare Providers is a strategic initiative aimed at improving the quality, capacity, and accessibility of the healthcare system for vulnerable populations in the City of Camden through community outreach, health provider education, capacity building of primary care practices, data collection and evaluation, and coalition building among key stakeholders. The Coalition currently operates five main project areas: citywide care management for high cost, high needs utilizers of Camden emergency departments and hospitals; the Camden Health Information Exchange, a web-based portal linking lab/radiology data and discharge summaries of all Camden residents; citywide chronic disease and medical home initiatives, working to improve the coordination and standardization of care and care coordination across health provider practices across Camden; data and research, including the management of a citywide hospital claims database; and technical assistance and teaching, providing communities across the state and region with lesson sharing on building collaboration and engagement among the health provider community. Additionally, the organization has been actively involved in policy development in the State of New Jersey, promoting the development of Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) and the model of shared financial gains with the demonstration of reduced cost, as well as improved quality. In recent years, the Coalition and its programming has been featured in local and statewide press, and has also been profiled in national journals, such as The New Yorker magazine and PBS’ Frontline.

Job Description

The Coalition is currently seeking a Director of Cross-Site Learning & Communications to oversee a quickly expanding program area of the organization. Approaching ten years of operations, the organization has been viewed as a model of healthcare organizing and systems innovation, designing pathways to reduce unnecessary, duplicative care, while improving patient centered care coordination and quality. The Coalition will soon begin working with six sites across the country under the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Aligning Forces for Quality Initiative (AFQI) to provide technical assistance and support on how to implement Coalition project models in their communities. This position will be responsible for the coordination of site-based learning of all community participants, as well as the development and production of web-based and print materials to help aid the teaching efforts of the Coalition. The Director of Cross-Site Learning and Communications will also assist the organization in managing external communications relating to additional inquiries and requests for technical assistance and other information regarding the organization’s programming.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the development of the Coalition’s teaching and communication goals and strategies; ensure communications strategies are aligned with the organization’s mission and core values
  • Serve as primary contact for Aligning Forces for Quality Initiative site participants, and program staff at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation
  • Manage the development and production of teaching materials and other communications documents, including printed resources, webinars, webmail, web site content development, newsletters, press releases, and other related materials.
  • Oversee the scheduling and coordination of all site-based visits, including visit content, instruction modules, presentations and materials, and logistical details
  • Direct the Coalition’s external communications efforts;
  • Supervise support staff and contracted vendors
  • Other duties and responsibilities as directed.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7-10 years experience in communications, public relations, advocacy, or related field; knowledge of public health and health policy required
  • Superior organizational and interpersonal skills; strong oral/written communication skills is a must
  • Strong proficiency in website development, computing, technology, and communications related applications required; knowledge and experience in online communications and social media a plus
  • Strong design and publication layout sense
  • Experience in managing staff, as well as contracted vendors
  • Ability to provide superior customer service to external stakeholders
