NJ Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired

Southern Region: Provides support and referrals for patients who are visually impaired or blind. Assistance and programming are also available

South Jersey Eye Center

Provides free or discounted eye services and eyeglasses to Camden residents. They also accept insurance plans and have a sliding payment scale. Uninsured patients need proof of income.

Catholic Charities Diabetes Outreach

Provides education around the community about diabetes prevention and management. Catholic Charities has a contract with CAMCare and they will assist with referrals and appointments. There is a monthly diabetes screening at Catholic Charities run by CAMcare – Call for date and time.

Catholic Charities Eye Clinic

Free monthly screenings for uninsured patients only. Usually takes place on the last Wednesday of the month, but call for confirmation.

Camden County Cancer Screening Project

Provides free cancer screenings for residents of Camden who are not more than 250% above the poverty line. Screening for breast cancer for women above 40 or younger with a family history. Screening for cervical cancer for women over 18. Screening for prostate cancer for males 40 and over if African American or with a family history and all other males 50 and over. Screenings for colorectal cancer for adults 50 and over or younger than 50 with a family history. Appointment required and patients will be sent to the site nearest to them.

Camden County Health Services

Offers all recommended vaccines for children under 19 without insurance. A vaccination record is required except for babies first series vaccines – in this case clearance from a pediatrician is required (Fax: 856-225-5129). They can refer to pediatricians when necessary.
